Coquitlam is already feeling the impacts of climate change.

In 2024, two Coquitlam residents lost their lives in landslides triggered by climate-fueled extreme weather. As these events become more common, Coquitlam is facing increasing costs to protect homes, infrastructure, and public safety.

These rising expenses put pressure on our city’s budget, and ultimately, on local taxpayers.

Meanwhile, the fossil fuel industry the leading cause of climate change continues to profit while communities like ours bear the burden. That’s why eleven other B.C. municipalities have joined the Sue Big Oil campaign: to hold major polluters financially accountable for a fair share of the damages.

Now, Coquitlam has the chance to stand with them. Add your voice and ask City Council to protect our city’s future by supporting this important initiative.
